Gautam Gambhir celebrates his 39th birthday and receives wishes from cricket fraternity

Former India opener and current BJP MP Gautam Gambhir is celebrating his 39th birthday today, on October 14, 2020. The unsung hero of India’s two World Cup victories, Gambhir had a storied career for not only India but also for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

He struck the highest scores in final matches of 2007 World T20 in South Africa and 2011 World Cup at home; both of which India won. Gambhir shone brightly whenever chips were down, despite sometimes, credit went to others for their flamboyancy.

No one can forget his 11-hour odyssey to save a Test match in New Zealand and reached the no.1 Test batsmen rankings in 2009. Gautam Gambhir played 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is for India from 2003-2016.

He also led Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 and called time on his cricket career in 2018. Since then, he delved into politics, contesting and winning the 2019 general elections on BJP Ticket from East Delhi.

Gambhir is also known for his Gautam Gambhir Foundation, which works for the welfare of people of his constituency and for children of paramilitary martyrs and empowers them by supporting their entire educational needs. He is known for his support for the Indian Army and its soldiers.

As he turned 39, Gambhir received many wishes from fellow cricketers on Twitter and we have some of the best tweets.
