IPL 2020: Die-hard MS Dhoni fan spends INR 1.5 lakh to paint his house in CSK yellow

Fandom is a finicky thing. Being a fan of something may either give you a goal to live in life or can make you do things, that none of the other people do. Talking of fandom, IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and its captain MS Dhoni enjoy a god-like status in Chennai.

This has to do with Dhoni leading the franchise to three IPL titles and the team has qualified for the playoffs in every IPL edition that have played until 2019. In the ongoing IPL 2020, CSK’s fortunes are not looking good, but this doesn’t mean the fandom has dwindled a bit.

Gopikrishnan, a resident of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu, is a die-hard MS Dhoni and CSK fan and has spent Rs 1.50 lakh to paint the house in the franchise’s yellow color. It even has portraits of Dhoni on the front walls.

IPL 2020: “Can’t promote other batsmen,” Virender Sehwag wants MS Dhoni to bat up the order

Gopikrishnan makes sure to attend every CSK match in the city, but with the 13th season of IPL being held in UAE due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he is unable to watch the matches from the ground.

“I am disappointed that I can’t see Dhoni playing live, and also how many people are criticizing Dhoni for not playing well. I want to motivate him and win or lose we will always support him,” Gopikrishnan told India Today.

Chennai Super Kings are in the midst of their worst IPL season after suffering 5 losses from the first 7 games so far. This is the first time in 10 years that Dhoni’s team is placed 7th almost at the half-way mark in the tournament.

Dhoni himself has been woefully out-of-form with scores of 0*, 29*, 15, 47*, 11, 10. The saving grace with the bat for the team has been the opening combo of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis.

Chennai Super Kings have become the butt of all jokes this season with the players and their families even receiving threats and abuses online.

They will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a crucial match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Match 29 of IPL 2020 on October 13.
