Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer after his team’s defeat may have informed that wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has gone into a week-long precautionary break and hence was missing from the defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) this Sunday (October 11) but the extent of the injury wasn’t known.
However, it is learnt now that the explosive DC player has sustained a hamstring strain, which has subsequently led to soreness and this is why the team management doesn’t want to take any risk with the cricketer so extremely vital to their chances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

“He has a hamstring strain which has led to soreness and honestly, the team management doesn’t wish to take a chance with him,” a source close to the development told ANI.
“Going into the business end the team will need his firepower and why risk it when he can rest for a week and get back a 100 per cent. There is nothing to worry about and it is just a case of the humidity taking a toll on the body.”
While keeping on Friday (October 9) against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Pant was seen limping his way to complete the catch off lower-order batsman Varun Aaron.
He was also observed struggling to collect the throws far off the stumps. But the strain was picked-up earlier while sprinting towards the mid-wicket area to stop a quick single in his team’s victory.
This is already a fourth injury update from the DC camp after news on pacer Ishant Sharma and spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra.
But while Ishant (back injury) and Ashwin (dislocated shoulder) recovered from their respective injuries to take the field, Mishra, quite sadly, couldn’t get back after receiving a hard blow off the bat to his finger and had to be ruled out of the tournament.
