IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty powers MI to 5-wicket win over DC

Mumbai Indians (MI) faced Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 27th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday (October 11).

Opting to bat first, DC posted 162/4 in 20 overs on the back of Shikhar Dhawan’s unbeaten 52-ball 69 and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s 33-ball 42.

Krunal Pandya was the stand-out bowler for MI, claiming 2 wickets by conceding 26 runs in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah (0-26) was also economical with the ball.

In reply, the defending champions lost captain Rohit Sharma (5) cheaply. But Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav hit 53-run each to put the team in a commanding position.

After dismissing the duo, DC bowlers created a bit of panic in the MI camp but contributions from Ishan Kishan (28 off 15 balls), Kieron Pollard (11* off 14 balls) and Krunal Pandya (12* off 7 balls) ensured MI’s victory with five wickets and two deliveries to spare.

Cricket experts were impressed with Mumbai Indians’ successful chase scripted by Suryakumar Yadav and Quinton de Kock.

The first round of #MIvsDC #DCvsMI contest goes to Mumbai. Possibly 3 more to come? Or 2 more likely as they are top two teams of the season. But, credit to MI for chasing a tricky total which was never done on this pitch.

Not for nothing are #MumbaiIndians four times champions. Know how to win in crux and tough situations. Important hands played by Boult, Bumrah, Surya Yadav and de Kock. But I thought Stoinis’s run out was a crucial factor. Cost Delhi about 15-20 runs

Once more he is making it count. And when he plays he looks superb. @surya_14kumar pushing the national team door big time. @mipaltan

#MI have had no such issues to address. The juggernaut rolls on. First win in #IPL2020 while chasing. Hard to pick holes in the defending champions’ ship. It’ll be a travesty if Surya Kumar doesn’t play for India at some stage. #MIvDC
